All the group classes taught by Melissa in Clevedon now appear on the Pilates Foundation website, and as such they have its seal of approval.
The Pilates Foundation was founded in 1996 and is the main governing body for professional Pilates teachers in the UK. Melissa has been a full member since 2003. The Pilates Foundation was set up with the aim of establishing and maintaining quality and excellence in Pilates teaching. It promotes the original works of Joseph and Clara Pilates, honouring the original repertoire and principles, while at the same time bringing current knowledge and research to the teaching of the Pilates Method.
Members undergo extensive training, in Melissa’s case a year-long course, with a Pilates Foundation Accredited Teacher Training Provider and pass a rigorous examination process to gain membership into the organisation. Membership is then renewed annually with Pilates Foundation Teachers being required to meet on-going professional development requirements and adhere to the PF’s Codes of Ethics and Conduct.
